Nadia Nervo is a London-based artist using photography, film, and performance. She received a Masters in Art Communication & Design from the Royal College of Art (2003).

Nadia’s work focuses on collaboration, exploring the nature of the relationship between photographer and subject alongside observer and viewer.

The themes that are central to her work include gender, identity, femininity, beauty, and movement.

Nadia’s work is primarily analogue.

“You have to love dancing to stick to it. It gives you nothing back, no manuscripts to store away, no paintings to show on walls and maybe hang in museums, no poems to be printed and sold, nothing but that single fleeting moment when you feel alive.”
― Merce Cunningham

The artwork featured in this exhibition is inspired by Nadia’s fascination with dance. The movement, the shapes and forms it creates; the feeling of freedom and letting go. She is intrigued by the feeling of movement and finds it fascinating to watch.

In this series Nadia investigates the art of dance and movement. “I aim to capture the vitality and aliveness that dance depicts through the blurriness of these photos. The dancers are hurtling through space, moving quickly and freely, making the decision about when to click the shutter is an instinctive act. If you have to anticipate the moment, you could miss it.”
