With an emphasis on sculptural pieces, Tindale brings together a collection of works which explore different perspectives of home-like qualities. These vary from how we utilise the space that we occupy on a personal level, to the wider societal impact on living spaces.
Felt is a large-scale installation that occupies the whole gallery space. The piece is both a response to the industrial model village of Saltaire, and is also informed by time spent within the space at AIR in the run up to the launch of Homeness. The artist treated her time there as a mini residency, utilising the seven days to develop the work, while responding to the building and its occupants. The result is a site-specific piece, which seamlessly blends references to Saltaire with the space at AIR. Felt draws attention to details of the space itself, while gently enveloping the other works within it, and is a product of conversations with the place and some of those that work there.
