With simple line drawings of ordinary objects and mundane moments, Perfect outlines an alternative vision to the competitive pursuit of perfectionism in modern society.
As though retrieved from a surreal flower press, people, plants and vessels are presented flattened and slightly out of shape; multiple minimalist selves cross architectural and art historical references; impressions of unrelated scenes captured on paper.
With each drawing a gentle act of rebellion, against colour theory and perspective, against hierarchies between foreground and background, humans and things, Noisy World celebrates the humane and humorous aspects of everyday life.
Steve Perfect is an artist, originally from Hemel Hempstead, now living and working in London. He works mainly with drawing but also photography, text and installation.
Following a BA in Literature and photography courses with City & Guilds, Steve Perfect completed his MA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martin’s in 2006.
