Suzanne Lacy, Between the Door and the Street, Brooklyn, USA
Presented by Creative Time and the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum, on Saturday 19 October, hundreds of women will gather on the stoops of Park Place in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, for a performance by the LA-based feminist artist Suzanne Lacy, which will explore provocative issues facing women today. The public is encouraged to come to this tree-lined street and wander among the different groups to listen and observe. The event stems from six months of conversations with a multi-racial and multi-generational group of women in Brooklyn.

FIAC 2013, Paris, France
The 40th anniversary of this leading international art fair features 184 galleries representing 25 countries, and includes the fifth consecutive edition of the Lafayette Sector, an on-going programme that provides financial support to 10 French and international galleries presenting emerging artists. As well as the main art fair there will also be debates, films and an open-air programme, including the inaugural Left Bank of the Seine. Also new for this year is In Process, a performance cycle presented over a six-day period and dedicated to emerging artists.

West Bund 2013: Biennial of Architecture and Contemporary Art, Shanghai, China
For the first West Bund Biennial, curators have invited architects and artists to present work that experiments with ideas of urban development. Combining architecture and contemporary art, the biennial includes themed exhibitions devoted to Chinese architecture, sound art, video art and avant-garde theatre. The biennial is organised and supported by Tongji University, China Academy of Art and the Shanghai West Bund Development Group.

Urban Lights Ruhr, Bergkamen, Germany
Urban Lights Ruhr addresses artificial light in urban space in the Ruhr area and includes an international symposium on October 18 and 19 focusing on questions around temporary festivals and the subject of light art and light design. Meanwhile, Urbane Künste Ruhr, together with two artists’ collectives, will present a series of experimental light works in the city of Bergkamen. One of these will feature an industrial robot, the ‘behaviour’ of which will change depending on the weather and light levels.
