EVA International 2014, Limerick, Ireland
Ireland’s biennial of contemporary art returns with a 12-week programme curated by Egypt-based art critic and curator Bassam El Baroni. Under the title AGITATIONISM, the biennial presents work that ‘simulates the sense of living under agitation while capturing how we are slowly adapting to a different perception of the world’. Over 50 artists, including Elizabeth Price, Raqs Media Collective, Uriel Orlow and Stefanos Tsivopoulos, are exhibiting at Limerick City Gallery of Art, Kerry Group former Golden Vale Milk Plant, The Hunt Museum and Bourne Vincent Gallery.

Art Cologne, Cologne, Germany
The 46th edition of the world’s oldest art fair features some 200 international galleries and covers painting, sculpture, photography, prints, multiples, installations, performance and film. Alongside its main roster of exhibitors, the fair features the New Contemporaries section, a collection of 30 galleries founded in or after 2003.

Van Gogh Live!, Fondation Vincent van Gogh, Arles, France
The newly opened Fondation Vincent van Gogh in Arles, where the artist created many of his works, presents its inaugural exhibition. Dedicated to showing paintings by Van Gogh alongside contemporary works, this first show includes Camille Henrot, Elizabeth Peyton, Gary Hume, Thomas Hirschhorn, Guillaume Bruere, Raphael Hefti, Bethan Huws, Betrand Lavier and Fritz Hauser.

Total Recall, Seoul, Korea
Filmmakers and visual artists come together to present work that, in different ways, looks at how art documents the world in video. In part drawing on the Ilmin Museum of Art Documentary Archive, opened in 2002 and the first of its kind in Korea, the exhibition features nine Korean artists and art/film collectives, and is complemented by a series of talks and discussions.

Affekte / Affects, Erlangen, Germany
Featuring the work of 11 artists, including Ryan Trecartin, Santiago Sierra, Aernout Mik and Bill Viola, this exhibition aims to explore the ways that art creates an emotional, intellectual and even physical response in the viewer. Among the works is Tomoya Watanabe’s computer installation, which encourages visitors to throw virtual paving stones at the websites they hate.
