Closer, Space In Between, London
Space In Between present a solo exhibition of Simon Linington’s drawing, sculpture and video work. The artist situates his body in relation to the architecture of a site – that of his studio – in order to measure it against the space in various ways. The resulting works are an imprint of his time spent and the efforts made, providing a negative of the artist’s body on the space.

What Makes You, You?, QUAD, Derby
Part of QUAD’s Memory Season, artist Sally Sheinman’s interactive project aims to capture what makes people different. Participants can submit responses via the website or Twitter tag #WhatMakesYouYou. The aim is to collaborate with 200 people on 200 artworks over the course of six months.

Stranger, Flowers East, London
An exhibition aiming to illuminate the continuing relevance of self-portraiture and its aesthetic value, through each individual’s varied approach to self-representation. Featuring Flowers Gallery regulars including Ken Currie and Peter Howson, each work illustrates an intimate conversation between the artist and the canvas.

Something that Floats/Something that Sinks, Ikon, Birmingham
Ikon presents the first major survey of Japanese artist Shimabuku, featuring installation, video, drawings and sculptural pieces dating back to the early 1990s. The work is characterised by an intense fascination with the natural world and the countless manifestations of human culture within it. Shimabuku encourages us to break with established habits of perception and enjoy experiences as if they are happening to us for the first time.

Shadow Dance, Bluecoat, Liverpool
Kai-Oi Jay Yung‘s new performance and exhibition at Bluecoat Arts Centre is an exploration of psychological and physical blockages. The gallery space is converted into a dance studio/laboratory, focusing on the intersections between psychology, movement and the body. The public are invited to take part in a series of workshops combining choreographed and openly improvised exercises and gestures.
