Richard Forster’s pencil drawings are based on photographic images – sometimes his own snapshots, and often those lifted from magazines, books, or the Internet. While at a glance the choice of subject can seem quite diverse, common to them all is a sense of the place of the individual within the collective, the private within the public.

Haggard Caravan, Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield
This experimental sound and sculpture installation was conceived in response to The Hepworth Wakefield’s new space, The Calder. Produced over ten days, Haggard Caravan makes reference to the site’s architecture, its riverside setting and history of the building. The project stems from an ongoing collaboration between artists Tobias Madison, Emanuel Rossetti and Stefan Tcherepnin, working here with Jeanne Graff, Flavio Merlo, Gregory Ruppe and William Z Saunders under the group moniker Solar Lice.

The Crisis Commission, Bermondsey Project, London
A reflection on the theme of ‘home’, The Crisis Commission sees well-known artists such as Martin Creed and Gavin Turk exhibiting alongside work by people who have experienced homelessness. The exhibition continues at The Strand Gallery from 30 May – 9 June, and following the exhibition all artworks will be auctioned at Christie’s, with proceeds going to Crisis.

The Tourists, Felbrigg Hall, Felbrigg
This exhibition of sculpture, photography and installation is framed within the setting of Felbrigg Hall, a National Trust property in north Norfolk. Artists include Kate MccGwire, Gayle Chong Kwan and Claire Morgan, who exhibit works inspired by the Hall’s 17th century hand-painted Chinese wallpaper, the habitats of the estate’s birds, and the lives of its former inhabitants.

Clifford Owens, Cornerhouse, Manchester
At two specially organised events last year, Clifford Owens invited a group of people to reveal their private histories. The artist used these conversations as the basis for a series of photographic compositions that capture his audience’s personalities and identities, and the exchanges that took place during the performances.
