29.05.12 – Castlefield Gallery in Manchester is this week holding a one-off auction to raise funds as part of developing new streams of earned income over the next twelve months. There are sixty-six fantastic works donated by artists and curators up for grabs.

An online auction is already running, and this continues to 5pm 30 May at www.castlefieldgallery.co.uk

Bidding at the live auction event takes place 6-9pm (also on 30 May) at Castlefield Gallery, 2 Hewitt Street, Manchester M15 4G, hosted by Pavel Büchler, with special guests Stephen Snoddy and Dave Haslam. Admission to the live event is £10 (which will be deducted from any purchase you make). An exhibition of the donated works can also be viewed at the gallery up to the opening of the live auction.

“During this period of public spending cuts, Castlefield Gallery has been busy reshaping its business model so that it can raise enough income from a diversity of sources to continue its small but significant organisation for the next generations of artists and audiences.

“Its new income generation plans have already brought in major successes in the form of project funding from ACE for the next two years, and research funding from Manchester Metropolitan University. This one-off auction is crucial to Castlefield Gallery’s survival while other streams of earned income are developed over the next twelve months.”

There is a great line up of artists with works on offer including David Blandy, Andrew Bracey, Doug Fishbone, Leo Fitzmaurice, Rachel Goodyear, Sarah Hardacre, Harry Hill, Tim Noble and Sue Webster, Olivia Plender, Peter Saville, David Shrigley and Alison Turnbull.
