Beginning in 2012, the DfE has invested £7m in this programme.  Evaluation highlights show that: ten original museum partnerships hosted 431, 283 pupils, with 83% more visitors in the final reporting year than in the first. In 2016/17 the programme supported 117, 899 visits – 63% of which were pupils visiting a museum for the first time.  The average cost per visitor has dropped from £18.58 to £11.68. Although not specific to visual art galleries, this report, along with the “Now and the Future” ACE report, will be of use to gallery learning teams and artists working in education contexts.
