Detailed report suggesting disconnection between the support in 2005 for professional development and business advice, and the needs of professional makers in the West Midlands. Findings include that makers are portfolio workers, with non-generic business and professional development needs. Short-term interventions are of limited use: “What makers want from professional development, above all else, is to enhance their capacity to develop new markets, especially new selling and exhibiting opportunities…”
