The Our Museum programme aimed to embed community participation within participating museums, moving it from the margins to the core practice of each institution . The programme ran for 4 years between 2012 – 2015, with 12 museums taking part. Each organisation went through a process of organisational change
to place collaborative work at their heart in order to build sustainable partnerships with communities, and involve them in decision-making. An extensive action research project, it summarises its conclusions as “small changes add up” and “participation is everyone’s job.”
