Cites evidence that Turner Contemporary has helped to re-establish Margate as a destination town, and encouraged 2 million visits in its first five years, with 48% of visits to Margate made specifically to visit Turner Contemporary. Using a methodology that converts social return into monetary figures, report concludes that in one year, for every £1 invested by Turner Contemporary, £2.88 of net social value is created for visitors to the gallery. The social returns can be judged significant, but interestingly it is not able to suggest increased prosperity for the town or increased business for retailers.
