have more pieces out of the kilns, some really exciting glazing on them… i cant wait to combine them with the english antique (expensive, but utterly beauitful :D ) and gaffer glass the glass lady Linda kindly sold to to me, as well as my normal spectrum glass.

Tomarrow I will be back in the ceramics room, I had a busy day ahead of me – I need to finish three dreamcatcher pieces, a large pensieve (yes harry potter :) hehe) and two other ceramic pieces for layered glass, so theyre ready to be bisque fired next week.

I have a problem though, am unsure what colour I want to do my pensieve….any ideas??!

The countdown to the degree show has began ….first day at university since easter, Ive been hiding away in the glazing room for most of the day, glazing the small army of pieces i created over the holidays.

Some of the pieces I’ve been working on today are to go with wood that I have collected – going with my organic theme, others are ‘amulet’ pieces some of which that will be attached to each others or other objects; these are inspired by the amulets and magic objects at the Pitts Rivers muesum. I’ve also been creating pieces to go in an installation, that will be made up of ‘a spiders web of memory’ – dedicated to family of my friends and people who i never met or spoken to…I have asked willing friends to send me images of their family, and I have collected a selection of photos from junk shops, these photos will be suspended in the spider web of memory, in ceramics/glass/resin pieces. The spiders web represents the tangled range of memories that we have…as well as showing that everyone is connected and that we are all equally important, equally special…I want my work to be a shrine to everyone (not just my family or the people in random images i collected from junk shops) but to the whole world of people. To the viewer I want to them to feel involved in my work, I want them to realise that it applies to them too – as they have family, their friends have family etc…and also notice that it is a shrine to them….as Ive included photos of myself in the pieces, and these represent the viewer. I wish my work to reach round to everyone so that even those who don’t have any family to remembered etc, are remembered….and are put on the same level as the people most important to me.
