New (Chinese) Year, new work so time to start a new blog, although it won’t be so different from the old one.
Here’s another attempt at stilling my mind! Working on these small pieces is also great for trying things out – in this case combining drawn and printed marks.
Haven’t done a small collage in a while so here is one making use of some printed marks (yew) on paper from last year. I am feeling really out of sorts with all that is going on in the world. How to vote? How to resist? What to do other than make art and create a still place in my mind, if only temporarily.
I think my dad has had all his tests for now. While waiting for him to emerge from his last scan, I started talking to someone in the waiting room who turned out to be a former local journalist (working for a paper in Dover), now freelance writer. I suppose the chances of meeting someone with connections to the people I know are now quite high but it really did go to show that the “small world” cliche is a cliche for a reason.
