Surface Tension
Angela Smith’s first solo show at Lacey Contemporary presents her malleable and mysterious series of creatures. Abstract and figurative at once, these beings emerge from poured gloss and enamel paint. Smith’s manipulation of these pigments allow her to convey a psychologically tense sense of foreboding.
Until 29 October 2016, Lacey Contemporary Gallery, 8 Clarendon Cross, London W11.

Garden of Earthly Delights
Taking the Hieronymus Bosch painting Garden of Earthly Delights as its starting point, this multi-media exhibition takes over the disused former Customs & Immigration building in the historic area of Cardiff Bay. Part of the citywide Cardiff Contemporary festival – which will be featured on the a-n Instagram this weekend – over 60 artists contribute video, painting, photography, sonic art and site-specific works that offer a contemporary take on Bosch’s enigmatic, intense and fantastical imagery, providing an atmospheric journey for the audience as they wander through this vast space.
