From over 200 entries, ten artists have been selected for the Griffin Art Prize by its judging panel, which includes internationally renowned painter Ian Davenport; director of London’s CHARLIE SMITH gallery, Zavier Ellis; Art Foundation chair Jenny Lindén Urnes; and award winning journalist Deborah Orr.

They are: Jemma Appleby, Lindsey Bull, Ross Brown, Rebecca Byrne, Beatrice Haines, Hyojun Hyun, Alzbeta Jaresova, Jennifer Maidment, Ian Robinson and Xiaofei Yue.

Launched earlier this year and advertised by a-n to artists, the award offers one winner a six month studio residency in The Studio Building, London and culminates in a solo show in September 2013. It was launched by fine art materials companies Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conté à Paris as part of a ‘long-term commitment to sustaining and nurturing new talent in painting and drawing.’

The overall winner will be announced at a private view of the exhibition showcasing the shortlisted artists’ work, taking place on 7 November 2012 at the Griffin Gallery, London.
