Over £60,000 worth of prizes have been awarded to artists for the 18th National Open Art Competition. Scottish-born Mackie (Andrew McIntosh) wins the £10,000 Towry Award for the Best Work in 2014 for his his two oil paintings, A Summertime Retreat and Autumn Rhythm.

A further 28 prizes were given out including the £3000 Ward Thomas Award to Emiko Aida, the £2000 Seaward Award to Rob Reed and the £1000 Southwood Award to Leah Fusco. Among the photography category, Gina Soden receives the £5000 Naylor Award and Marcus Lyon the £3000 Crown Fine Art Award.

The artists were selected by a judging panel comprised of the printmaker Norman Ackroyd RA, Marakech Biennale founder Vanessa Branson, the photographer Caroline Irby and the printer and draftsman Chris Orr RA.

The prizewinning and shortlisted works will be on display at Somerset House, London, until 25 October 2014, before touring to Pallant House Gallery and Minerva Festival Theatre, Chichester, in December.
