Frank Auerbach, Tate Britain, London
Featuring paintings and drawings from the 1950s to the present day of people and the urban landscapes near his London studio, Tate Britain’s Frank Auerbach retrospective sheds new light on one of the most renowned artists of recent times. Intriguingly, the show has been curated Catherine Lampert, who has had a long working relationship with Auerbach, having sat for him in his studio every week for the last 37 years.

Making It: Sculpture In Britain 1977-1986, Warwick Arts Centre, Coventry
This group show features works by over 40 artists, including high profile names such as Tony Cragg, Richard Deacon, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Cornelia Parker and Alison Wilding. Focusing on the late 1970s to mid-1980s, it explores how object making was reinvigorated by breakthroughs in conceptual and performance art.

Eyes For Blowing Up Bridges, John Hansard Gallery, Southampton
This exhibition features a group of radical artists, poets, writers and activists associated with the Situationist, Beat and Punk movements. Included are cut-ups, film, video, sound and slide, as well as self-published books, pamphlets, anarchist propaganda, punk ephemera and graphics by William Burroughs, Guy Debord, Asger Jorn, Alexander Trocchi and King Mob. It also looks at the collective influence of these groups of artists on the work of Malcolm McLaren, manager of the Sex Pistols.

The Working End, Bridport Museum, Bridport
Featuring an installation by Nancy J Clemance exploring what we value and how we choose to display or hide that value, this exhibition has been funded by New Expressions, an award scheme designed to unlock the creative potential of museums. Clemence’s piece invites visitors to make and leave knots which are then incorporated into the exhibition. Also on show is a commissioned piece of writing by Lizzie Lloyd, and painted photographs by Tara Harland Viney.

Landscape with Machines, Coalbrookdale Gallery, Telford
Landscape with Machines is part of the programme Shifting Worlds, curated by Meadow Arts with Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, which examines the social, technological and aesthetic changes brought about by the Industrial Revolution. The exhibition brings together artworks by leading contemporary artists including Jeremy Deller, Michael Landy, Richard Long, Marchand and Meffre, Stuart Whipps and Clare Mitten with selected pieces from the museum’s nationally designated collection of industrial art.
