This exhibition focuses on American artist Jo Baer‘s most recent series of paintings which reflect on her life-long interest in history and science. Influenced by Palaeolithic cave paintings, the works depict esoteric and evocative imagery from her years living in the remote countryside of County Louth, Ireland.

Li Binyuan, Centre For Chinese Contemporary Art, Manchester
Beijing-based artist Li Binyuan challenges political and social restrictions, using his body as the medium for his sensuous productions. This show celebrates his performances and features some of the video recordings that comprise part of his practice.

The Curves Of The Needle, BALTIC 39, Newcastle upon Tyne
This group show explores artists’ recurring interest in vinyl records. Exploring album artwork and the cultural significance of the record collection, it brings together contemporary artists who have experimented with the format, including Elizabeth Price, David Blandy, Rodney Graham and Bruce Haack amongst others.

Curated by artist and University of Lincoln lecturer Andrew Bracey, (detail) features work by 118 artists, including David Reed, Fiona Rae, Daniel Sturgis, Neal Rock, Pavel Büchler, Shirley Kaneda and Julie Heffernan. First presented last year at H-Project Space, Bangkok, each artist has selected a close-up from one of their paintings, with the details creating a huge collage of images.

Indefinable Cities, Airspace Gallery, Stoke-on-Trent
