I had my first meeting with Sarah and Steve at Meltdowns Foundry in Ramsgate and objective 1 was to actually locate the place.

We agreed that the work will be done over the summer, before which I need to make a list of 10 questions that will inform the research experiments: e.g. What happens to the paper if it is treated with different media – e.g. ink, acetone, wax, nothing …? It is going to be a professional development and learning opportunity all round.

Sarah and Steve will advise on and source the resin and other materials, though part of my homework is to make a small, mdf box as a mould. It will be really good to get my head into 3-D processes again!

I am super chuffed to have been successful with my application for a Professional Development Bursary. As per my outline schedule, the first thing is to set up my new a-n blog!

I will be using the award to test what happens when I try and cast some paper pieces in resin. The idea is to explore issues of presenting, protecting and conserving work on/with paper and find out whether I like the results.

I will be working with Meltdowns Foundry in Ramsgate for the first time, which is exciting as I have known Sarah and Steve personally for ages, ever since my time at UCA Canterbury.
