I’m using photographs taken from video of me getting into awkward places as the basis for large drawings, as a process for thinking about space and how we will approach making work in the exhibition at The Minories.
At a distance from The Minories I’ve spent a couple of days getting into tight corners, using those available to me in my house. If nothing else it’s proved that I’m not as flexible as I’d like to think, and getting into uncomfortable positions is very uncomfortable!
Talking with Darren on the phone about discomfort, fitting the body into small and awkward spaces, and the traces that might be left by the body. I tend to move towards new work crabwise and in addition to using Pinterest as a pool for references I have put up some old work on the studio wall.
