A great lunchtime / afternoon working with @HazlehurstCraft on business planning and development. So many great ideas.

After installing our lovely Domesticity show, and a week’s holiday in sunny southern England, I have been fighting my way through the email backlog.

Now out the other side and getting excited about various projects in the planning stages. Working with our community art groups to find them some funding, developing an HLF bid for the heritage collections in the borough and working with artists. All looking good.

9 May

The last couple of weeks have sped by but nice things are happening. Last week saw the official opening of Hanging by a Thread, a lovely craft shop in downtown Runcorn. All the hard work Denise and Hannah have put in over the past few months has paid off and a huge crowd of people turned up on Wednesday evening to enjoy tea, cake and lemonade.

Back in the office this week, after a very successful preview for the 9th Open Art Exhibition. Many thanks to all the entrants who came and supported us. Congratulations to all the winners and a special thanks to all the art groups and their tutors who took part – your work in our community is very much appreciated.

Now looking at the next lot of exhibitions which all require attention of various sorts. Oh yes, and wading through a backlog of email. But some interesting projects on the horizon including a mural for Runcorn Old Town, an exhibition for Markmakers – our contemporary visual arts collective – in Warrington, new workshops in knitting, creative writing and tap dance for our elders’ arts group – Years Ahead, and the advent of digital cinema at the Brindley.

April 11th 2013

Back at the blog after a long break, but having a good week.

Just closed a really stunning show by North Wales-based artist Derek Couturier. Included abstract paintings, drawings and prints with a political / social commentary edge and video pieces too. Plus some fantastic painted bags which attracted a lot of attention in the gallery.

Now we have installed the 9th Halton Open Art Exhibition. Thanks to my technicians and volunteers for all their hard work this week. PV is tomorrow evening. Then it’s back to the office for meetings with art groups and a catch up on email next week.
