So I have sold all the Easter cards – I am in full lockdown so my husband has to go out and post them to buyers but thankfully I am able to reduce contact with post office staff by using the online Royal Mail facility for printing labels and paying for postage.
My health has taken a bit of a turn for the worse so trying to keep my spirits up and doing lots of work, which is all I know how to do, though I feel I should be doing some housework since I am confined to the home.
Anyhow I’ve started a new series of black and white ink drawings from photos – Family Stories
and am reworking some found old drawings.
Sometimes when I am anxious making cards is a good way of relaxing and working at the same time as it doesn’t feel quite so demanding
I can’t help thinking how lucky I am to have a big studio with lots of time when no-one is there. I have suspended my print and drawing club sessions which is a huge shame as they were really getting going and really enjoyable.
Anyhow, onwards with the lino prints of Chinese objects from my own collection and that of my parents. I might print them into a book although I’m not sure I could do that many prints so might be better to make a book….
Self isolation does mean lots of time to make work and stay connected via social media… Loads of hashtags to follow including #covid19artistsathome #fronteerlockdown #isolationartschool #artistsupportpledge among many many others.
I’ve started a new series of ink drawings
I have what people refer to as a diverse practice or as I prefer to say “I work across genres”….. So I did this mind map which started as a kind of circle of different activities so I guess I’ll do another one.
So in view of the Corona virus pandemic and my “underlying health condition” I am trying to keep calm by keeping busy… so with Easter coming up I’ve been doing more lino cuts and got this one done in a day! I am planning also a three-colour version and/or possibly reduction print.
No Easter eggs – just the moon and radishes.
