a-n Board determines policy and sets the strategic direction of the organisation. Board members play an active role representing a-n externally as well as monitoring the organisation against its agreed objectives and targets. Board members typically serve a three-year term and meet a minimum of four times a year. Making an invaluable contribution to a-n, they ensure effective governance for the company and its business.
We’re looking for an artist to provide leadership to the Board of a-n, set the strategic direction for the company and support effective governance.
Artists Council is an advisory group to the Board and Executive of a-n. Over a three-year term, Council members will play a key role in driving the direction of a-n’s advocacy, research and programme activities, with a focus on the leadership development of artists. Artists Council meets four times a year to voice the concerns of artists in their networks and communities, and to take part in a Leadership Development programme developed by a-n in partnership with Clore Leadership.
We’re looking for a Programme and Communications Assistant to join our team and help deliver a-n’s events, bursaries and online content.
As part of our commitment to supporting artists and arts organisers, we are offering bursaries of between £500 to £1,500 to provide immediate support to visual artists and freelancers working in the visual arts who need it most in light of the changing plans due to the spread of the Omicron variant of Covid-19.

For artists and freelancers in Northern Ireland in partnership with a-n The Artists Information Company. The Freelands Foundation Emergency Fund is supported by the Freelands Foundation, as part of a landmark commitment of £3m towards emergency funds for artists and freelance creative practitioners across the UK affected by the Covid-19 crisis. a-n The Artists Information Company is offering bursaries of £500 – £1,500 to help support those whose livelihoods have been impacted by Coronavirus Covid-19. We’re bringing the application process forward for the next round of a-n Bursaries, and also working with Arts Council England to distribute £300,000 of financial support as part of the programme.
Time Space Money is an emergency response fund to support artists and arts organisers to enable them to continue their professional practice at this critical time.
We encourage applications from artists working in all visual arts disciplines that reflect innovative and ambitious thinking, and arts organisers such as art handlers, technicians, art installers, conservators and restorers, and those who work with artists in the production of their work and exhibitions.
