Have you ever produced a great video, posted it online – and then sat back and wondered why hardly anyone is viewing it? While no-one can guarantee that your video will go viral, a quick look at Anton Hecht’s new a-n guide, How to distribute your video online, should give you a good idea about how to get as many eyes as possible on your work.

“I find that sharing is at the heart of the online experience,” says Hecht, who as part of an event at Castlefield Gallery, Manchester to launch the new guide, will be running drop-in advice sessions for artists. Hecht will also be in discussion with Roger McKinley of ArtPlayer.tv, the video platform produced in partnership with Liverpool’s FACT.

Hecht’s new four-minute guide shares his strategies for getting his work known and seen – Hecht’s Youtube channel has had over a million views. In the guide, he explains how this has increased his visibility, “raising my profile and gaining me further work.” He provides tips on curated video sites and news channels and reveals how he approaches potential promoters through social media.
