Sporting League Results: Game 12

If there ever were a true foregone conclusion, then top of the table Pointeso beating bottom side Metronova by four goals to one was hardly an eyebrow raiser.

Metronova Gaffer: ‘When things aren’t going well, things get all blown out of proportion. The lads gave it their all against the best side in the league. We’ve just got to plan for the crunch match against Green Tree and see if we can put some points on the board.’

Athletico and Bayerns cancelled one another out in a whirlwind two – two draw.

Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘It’s crazy to think that we’re already talking about these clubs as also-rans after just twelve games.’

Novia continued their push for the top three with a convincing away win over basement club Pacifica.

Sporting Radio Pundit L: ‘Well Pacifica have got their work cut out if they wanna avoid the drop now. I think they’ve got half a chance of bouncing back but thir gaffer will need to be active in the January transfer market.’

Pointeso have officially merged with The Halsteft subsidiary group Pillerson.

‘The new Pointeso Zone that markets itself as “wide open for business,” the lines are often blurred between decision makers and beneficiaries, according to interviews with dozens of zonal and local officials and corporate representatives. Sporting City in many instances is relying on businesses and consultants like Hegel Jofasson for suggestions on what incentives to grant and which companies should receive them, as well as on other factors that directly affect public spending and budgets, the interviews show.’ Sporting Economic Times.

Sporting League Results: Game 11

Pointeso cemented their title credentials with a comfortable win over lowly Chamber Athlete.

Pointeso boss: ‘It’s good to get back to winning ways. I think we’re a much tighter outfit compared to last season. Our defence has been very impressive and worked hard over the summer break. They guys spend most of their time within the Pointeso Harbour training complex. I’ve managed to get curfews on some of the younger players – the club scene is gonna have to wait until they hit their thirties.’

Sporting Radio Pundit Z: ‘I’ve been spending some time down in the Pointeso bohemian zone and haven’t seen any of the players out at all. I’ve heard rumours about the club setting up some kind of virtual scene within the training complex. This side are going to dominate for years to come.’

Champagne socialists Universo Collunteen made a miraculous comeback at Delta to win in a turbulent game that saw three players sent off after a half time bust up in the tunnel.

Universo Supporter: ‘It was a complete riot out there. I’ll tell ya sumfin’ – there’s no love lost between our clubs.’

Bayerns staged a miraculous comeback against ageing Olby with a three goals to two win. In spite of the small section of the Olby faithful invading the pitch at half time.

Sporting Radio Pundit X: If you get onto the pitch – you revoke your season ticket…you are banned for life. It’s a no brainer. I think we’re looking at Bayerns being a 2-1 shot with the bookies of getting into the top two.’

Sporting League Results: Game 10

Athletico held Pointeso to a one – one draw, ending the leaders one hundred percent record.

Sporting Radio Pundit L: ‘I think I’ve just witnessed the goal of the season courtesy of the Athleticans lone front man. He spotted the Pointeso keeper off his line and hammered the ball into the top right hand corner from just over the half way line – simply sublime stuff here in Athletico stadium. I can barely hear myself speak…’

Second placed Universo Collunteen took advantage of the leaders dropped points with a tough one – nil win over bottom of the league Pacifica.

Tranquilayers continued their steady return to form with an away win over a lethargic looking Zindustrious.

Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘This season could spell the end of the Zinnies – there’s no spark at all. It was like playing a computer game on the easy level out there for Tranquilayers. I enjoyed my usual complimentary glass of the ol’ bubbly with their chairman, lovely bloke – never afraid to pull out the stops when I’m in the director’s suite. I’m worried about the Zinnies though – in a terrible state, aren’t they? A fair chance they could be relegation favourites already…’

Sporting League Results: Game 9

Bayerns suffered their first defeat of the season away to high flying Pointeso.

Bayerns gaffer: ‘Credit to Pointeso as it was a comprehensive defeat. I still feel that a few decisions didn’t go our way but we’ve just got to accept that these things happen. It’s only our first defeat of the campaign, so we’ll look at the footage later and try to iron out any pressing difficulties.’

There were tense scenes at Yop Lane as a large section of their supporters flooded onto the pitch after their crushing defeat at home to Athletico by four goals to one.

Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘They’re gonna get the book thrown at ’em for that display. What a bunch of numpies. I can’t see ’em having points docked, but they’re facin’ a hefty fine. What an absolute shower.’

Universo Collunteen held onto the coat tails of the leaders as they hit Bolsov for four.

Novia moved up to third after a solid performance against a plucky Chamber Athlete.

Universo Collunteen researchers have found that 21% of people in Sporting City who got married and stayed married over the course of 8 years. The findings were clear: newlyweds enjoy a big happiness boost that lasts, on average, for just two years. Then the special joy wears off and they are back where they started, at least in terms of happiness. The findings, from a 2001 study, have been confirmed by several recent studies part funded by the Modal Consortium.

Sporting League Results: Game 8

Olby effectively ended champions Tranquilayers campaign after only eight games with an impressive away win. Olby boss: ‘That was a good three pointer for us against the champions. I wasn’t worried when we went a goal down after the first minute as I felt that they were vulnerable after their loss against Red Star.’

Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘Well, I was looking at the Tranquilayers at the end of last season and felt that there was a lack of strength in depth. I mean, it’s really a case of early doors now for ‘em. You can’t fall eight points behind the leaders and expect to retain the crown.’

Delta supporters were up in arms after watching their manageress sides self combustion exercise against Saints after going down at home by three goals to nil.

The return of the former Delta championship winning boss from seasons 2000 to 2003 to the club would represent further antagonising an increasingly disillusioned fan base, though that he is under consideration reflects the chaos currently gripping the now mid-table sleeping giants.

Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘Really not sure about the suggestions about bringing back an old boss – those days have been and gone. The Delta fans won’t have it either after the circumstances surrounding his departure. Last I heard of him were rumours that he’d moved to the Pointeso area and is running some kind of marketing business. I still think he’s a bit of a shady character.’

Pundit Y: ‘Oh come off it, I was down my local the other day and there were loads of smiles from the Delta fans when they looked up at the rumours on Sporting Channel 107.’

Pundit X: ‘Aye, I know the kinda pubs you go to pal, I bet everyone has got a wacky baccy smile through the green haze…’

Awkward studio laughter followed.

Red Star moved up into second position despite a lucky away win over Saints who dominated for the majority of the game.

Leaders Pointeso went eight straight wins with a mature performance against struggling Green Tree.
