Signalling the conclusion of Mark Devereux Projects’s five-month artist development programme, the exhibition showcases new and recent work by each of the participating artists.

The exhibition will include the launch of a specially commissioned work through the University of Salford Art Collection and Mark Devereux Projects as part of the StudioBook programme. Manchester-based artist Darren Nixon was awarded this commission to create a brand new work; The Awkward Ambassador, which will then become part of the University’s Art Collection.

“Over the last 5 months Mark Devereux Projects has been proud to support and work with each of the 11 artists selected for the inaugural StudioBook programme. We have supported them with their artistic and career development over this period. Studiobook has proven to be a resounding success and we look forward to continuing our relationships with each of these fascinating artists and also hope to support further artists through StudioBook in years to come.” [Mark Devereux, Director Mark Devereux Projects]

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the huge variety of artists’ works in the expansive 2nd floor gallery space at ArtWork Atelier as well as talking to the artists about their experiences during the programme. On the first Saturday of the exhibition, each of the artists will give talks about their work during a free drop-in event.

“In terms of professional development, this has been the most valuable experience I have ever had. I have learnt more than I could have imagined I would, and have so much more confidence in moving forward. I have made links with significant professionals and also an essential artist network. I am sure I will use what I learnt long in to the future.” [Sophie Lee, artist]
