I’m suffering from some sort of post-adrenalin slump. I think I shall be having an art free week. I’m going to read some trashy fiction, watch crap on tv, and listen over and over again to my two favourite new cds

Two very different albums:

Tom Waits – Bad as Me. Classic Tom, clever lyrics and strokes of musical genius. I think I love him. No matter how gruff and miserable he sounds, I always find myself smiling at his style, his skill and his eloquence.

Clem Snide – Your Favourite Music. This was one I used to listen to years ago, that was in my son’s collection, then he moved out and took it with him. It’s ages since I heard it, then decided to treat myself after Christmas. It is gentle, acoustic, beautifully written, a little bit country round the edges, but not enough to make me get my checked shirt out.

Tomorrow I’m going to my life drawing group for the first time since the middle of September, I stopped so I’d have extra time for the research project, so now I go back with a little trepidation. After such a break it’ll be dreadful i’m sure. You lose the knack really quickly if you have time away from it. Oh, this doesn’t count as art, it’s meditation/punishment, depending on the success of the outcome, and how hard it is to get it to look like you want it to.

…and some more…

they’re looking a bit dull here… sorry… something’s happened to them on the way somehow. I’ll mess about a bit, or take some more before I take them down next Wednesday.

Not much to say today, just a load of photos. Comments welcome as always. I’m exhausted from getting all this together, hung and plugged in, forms filled and handed in.

I’m getting all my stuff together for my PG Dip assessment tomorrow. I need to make sure I load up the car with everything I need but I’m spending the evening fannying about (as Jo Farnell would say) painting steel hooks white to match the wall and the work. I can’t decide if I need to take my iron and board with me in case it all gets creased up on the way. I’m tempted to just load it into the car anyway, then I can always go and get it later in the day if necessary, then can stop dithering about it.

I’m happy with my pieces of work – assorted embroidered garments as pictured in previous posts – but as usual I’m unsure about my display ideas. But this is the idea I like best, is appropriate to and less intrusive on the work itself. I’ll take some photos of everything so you can tell me what you think. I hope that you will be honest, as it really helps. So, I’m going to put another coat of paint on the hooks and take myself off to bed, in the hope I might sleep.
